Note: If you've purchased your eSIM through the website and you have the installation QR code in your email's inbox, skip to Step 4.
Step 1: In the Global YO app, locate the 'My eSIM' Bubble.
Step 2: Tap on the 'Install this eSIM' banner.
Step 3: Share your QR code to another device (For iOS 16 and lower) or save it to your gallery (iOS 17 and up).
Step 4: Open the 'Settings' app in your phone.
Step 5: Tap on 'Connections'
Step 6: Locate the 'SIM Manager' option.
Step 7: Tap 'Add eSIM'
Step 8: Select 'Scan QR code'
Step 9: Your device's camera will be opened in order to scan the QR code from another device. After it's scanned you'll be asked to confirm if you want to add the Connect eSIM. Tap 'Add'
Step 10: Wait for the eSIM to be installed.
Step 11: Once the installation is done, you'll be asked to select the default SIM for calls, SMS and Data.
For calls and SMS, select your local SIM (SIM 1).
If planning to use your data at a later date, keep your local SIM selected, then swap it later on your device settings.
If you plan to use your Global YO data right away, select the eSIM 1 option and proceed to the next step.
Step 12: You'll see the eSIM added to your SIM manager list. Make sure that it's turned ON.
*We recommend turning off your local/physical eSIM to avoid possible data roaming charges from your local network carrier.
Step 13: Go back to the connections menu. This time select the 'Mobile Networks' option.
Step 14: Make sure 'Data Roaming' is turned on.
Step 17: If you're on one of the destination countries included in your package, your eSIM will be ready to use right away. If you're not yet in one of the destination countries, please read below:
🚨 Important Notice: 🚨
Please note that installation is different from activation.
You can install the eSIM anywhere, but if you’re not in the destination country for which you’ve purchased the eSIM data package, you may encounter errors such as "Unable to Activate," "PDP Authentication Error", "Unable to connect" or your eSIM might get stuck in the "Activating" status.
If this happens, do not delete the eSIM from your SIM card manager. It will complete the setup once it detects a signal from a local carrier in the destination country. Just make sure that roaming is enabled as shown on the tutorial. 🌍📶
